My wife and I have spent the past 15 years transforming what was once a dense 2/3-acre grove of cottonwood trees into a mosaic sculpture garden — featuring individual islands of plants, each with their own character, set in between art that we have either collected or commissioned.

The garden encompasses our passion for art and we are always eager to share that passion with others.  It’s been featured in The Plain Dealer several times, the most recently in July 2011 in an article entitled “Couple Creates an Urban Eden.”

The garden is in the heart of Cleveland — in Duck Island, nestled between Ohio City and Tremont — with the Cuyahoga River and its iconic bridges visible in the background.

It serves as a daily reminder of our city’s potential for transformation — as well as our ability to achieve that transformation.

The garden also demonstrates the catalytic possibilities of creative thought at the intersection of arts and culture and planning, design and construction.

The kids in the hood call it the “Secret Garden,” but I like the “Zecret Garden” for obvious reasons.  Stop by sometime!
